Leaded glazing

Privacy screen and vestibule

Private residence

For this private residence, I was able to develop and produce a leaded glass vestibule / privacy screen element in 2017.

The magnolias and the floral stiffeners make this practical object a work of art and an eye-catcher in the garden.

TECHNIQUE: Glass etching, glass painting, deep sandblasting, leaded glass with real antique glass.

Process

From sketches to production

After an initial analysis of the room situation and the framework conditions set by the architectural office/client, my first creative ideas are developed by me as an artist for the respective situation in the architecture with a suitable artistic concept.

The glass designs are discussed and refined in discussions with customers and architects.

Once the design process has been completed, a material sampling of the glass colors, glass types and glass technology or production technology is carried out. Implementation of the design can then begin.

The process for producing leaded glazing

Template creation, glass cutting, e.g. of genuine antique glass including the grinding of sharp edges. Marking out all details that are to be worked out later, glass finishing (working out details e.g. with glass painting, glass etching, glass engraving, glass lamination, glass bonding or screen printing on glass), lead, soldering, cementing the glazing and applying tap wrenches.
