The artistic design of the Hövelhof chapel combines architecture, light and color to create a harmonious overall concept. The focal point is a circular element that defines the interior design as a central symbol. From here, a 360° window and color composition unfolds, connecting with the angled lines of the roof, altar, lectern and tabernacle. The previously existing asymmetry is balanced out by the circle, giving the room a clear centring and a special calm.
Light and color play a central role. Strong, friendly colors give the room an inviting atmosphere. At the same time, a new connection is created between the windows and the circular wall surface behind the cross – an interplay of light and material that allows the room to be experienced as a unit.
Implementation
Pictures of the realization and before
Traditional and modern techniques were used for the realization: Stained glass with sandblasted surfaces, digital printing on glass for the central circle and printed composite panels to integrate the blind windows. A new lighting concept enhances the effect of the interior design, while light-colored walls and delicate chairs support the clear, light appearance of the room.
The interior design follows the theme of “sunlight” – a symbol of warmth, life and spirituality. Diagonal lines pick up on the play of the sun’s rays, which create a variety of colors through reflection and refraction. This motif is complemented by abstract leaf and branch structures that create a connection to nature.
A space of tranquillity that creates an atmosphere of contemplation through light, form and color.
